Casual Conference Porter

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure all meeting and event rooms are set up to the required standards prior to client arrival
  • To ensure that all equipment is available and working to the required standards
  • Deliver outstanding customer care at all times
  • Provide advice and assistance to delegates and organizers when needed
  • Follow all company Health and Safety guidelines

Skills & Experience required

  • Previous customer service experience is essential
  • You must be physically fit in order to carry and move tables, chairs and other room furniture
  • Ability to work in a highly organized manner
  • A smart and professional appearance
  • A positive attitude and excellent communication skills
  • Experience of working as part of a busy team
  • Ability to remain calm whilst under pressure

Please note- this job requires a lot of manual labour and heavy lifting. Please only apply if you feel you are able to move heavy equipment, staging, tables and chairs.

Essential:

  • Help deliver Unity Works vision and ethos through the team and in person
  • Management and support /guidance of senior team and direct reports.
  • To ensure the bar and drink service is optimized and efficient both in the café bar and at all events.
  • Present at events, conferences and functions to supervise, support and direct team to enhance customer experience/journey
  • Experience of quality food and beverage service/operations
  • Ability to drive bar sales and promotions.
  • Plan and organize team to deliver and exceed customer expectation of event
  • Participate in meeting event planners site visits
  • Recruit and develop staff within ethos of Unity works
  • Management of direct report staff administration and records
  • Management of staff development including inductions, appraisals, training plans and reviews
  • Setting key staff targets and objectives quarterly
  • Conduct and coordinate weekly operations meetings
  • Through the team manage and control payroll budgets
  • Through the team manage and control overheads cost of sales in line with P and L targets
  • Help minimise waste towards zero policy to landfill (recycling policy)
  • Ensure all Unity works licence procedures and security and cash handling are adhered to
  • Communicate any incidents that require the Exec Director attention
  • Attend on live events over 250 customers to support programmers ensuring Bars and safety of staff and customers is complied with.

Desirable:

  • Experience and knowledge of quality bar operations.
  • Experience of conference industry
  • Experience of wedding and function markets
  • Knowledge of Health and safety requirements
  • Knowledge of up selling and revenue opportunities
  • Participate in sales review meetings
  • Financial and P and L understanding
